HOW THE RATING WORKS
A fair, transparent and explainable rating where the path through the bracket matters, not just the color of the medal.
Core principle
The rating is built from points earned in each bout at a tournament. The further you go through the bracket, the more points a win is worth. Bonus points are awarded for a podium finish, but their size depends on the number of bouts actually fought. This means three wins and a gold are worth more than a single win through a bye and the same gold.
Points per stage
Each bout earns base points depending on the stage of the tournament bracket:
| Stage | Points (win) | Points (loss) |
|---|---|---|
| Final | 60 | 30 |
| Semifinal (1/2) | 40 | 20 |
| Quarterfinal (1/4) | 25 | 12.5 |
| Round of 16 | 15 | 7.5 |
| Round of 32 and earlier | 10 | 5 |
A loss brings half the stage points — taking part in a bout always counts. A technical pass (bye) gives 0 points.
Finish method multiplier
An early win (KO, TKO, RSC, submission) gives ×1.15 on the stage points. A win on points (VOP) has no multiplier (×1.0). The multiplier applies only to wins, not to losses.
Placement bonus
| Place | Base bonus |
|---|---|
| 🥇 Gold (1st place) | 50 |
| 🥈 Silver (2nd place) | 25 |
| 🥉 Bronze (3rd place) | 12 |
Depth coefficient (Fill Factor)
The placement bonus is multiplied by a coefficient that depends on the number of bouts actually fought (excluding byes):
If a fighter fought 1 bout — the bonus is ×0.33. Two bouts — ×0.67. Three or more — the full bonus (×1.0). This guards against inflating the rating in small brackets and through byes.
Final formula
Examples
An 8-participant bracket, all bouts on points (VOP):
Fighter A — Gold over 3 real bouts
Wins in the 1/4, 1/2, and final. No byes.
Fighter B — Silver over 3 real bouts
Wins in the 1/4, 1/2, loss in the final.
Fighter C — Gold, but only 1 real bout
Bye in the 1/4, bye in the 1/2, win in the final.
A (175) > B (120) > C (76.67)
Three real bouts and a gold are worth more than a gold through byes. A silver over three bouts is higher too.
Time decay
Tournament points keep full strength for 12 months. Then they decrease linearly to zero by 24 months. This motivates fighters to compete regularly and refresh their rating.
| Tournament age | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| 0–12 months | ×1.0 |
| 18 months | ×0.5 |
| 24+ months | ×0 (not counted) |
Overall rating and disciplines
The rating is calculated separately for each discipline (Pointfighting, K-1, etc.), then combined:
A fighter's main discipline counts in full. Additional disciplines add half of their points — versatility is rewarded.
Club rating
A club's rating is determined by the strength of its best fighters, not by the number of members. This ensures a fair comparison between large and small clubs.
Formula
Of all the club's fighters, the 10 with the highest overall rating are taken. Their points are summed — this is the club rating. If the club has fewer than 10 rated fighters, all available ones are summed.
Why the top 10 and not all?
If you summed all fighters, a club with 50 weak members would overtake a club with 5 champions. Limiting to the top 10 levels the field: quality of training matters, not the size of the club.
Example
Club A — 3 fighters rated 180, 120, 95. Total: 395 points.
Club B — 15 fighters, the best 10 range from 50 to 20 points. Total: ~320 points.
Club A (395) > Club B (320) — even though B has five times more fighters.
